As citizens of the same planet, we all face traffic problems. Even in we live in New York or another world wide city, because of the fact that we use cars as means of transportations, no matter what, we’re stuck in traffic. Some of us, from time to time while others, every day.
Being in traffic and not being able to make any decision about the direction you’re planning to go cat get really frustrating. The waiting, the hurry, the noise and the meeting you’re going to be late at could drive you crazy in just a couple of minutes.
I believe that there are things in life that you can change and things you can’t. Traffic is what a regular citizen can’t change by itself. We could, if we would all ride bikes in stead of driving cars but sometimes, this is not an option, especially in a world where speed is time and time is money.
The things we can’t change, we can improve. Like traffic. We can’t make it disappear, but we can find some interesting stuff to do while we’re in traffic to make the waiting less annoying.
1. Think of what you’re going to do during the day. Make a short list in your mind and set your priorities for the day. This way, when you get to work, you’ll have a good plan to follow and you’ll be more efficient.
2. If you’re a woman, look outside the window and update your fashion designer skills. Some of the coolest outfits women have were inspired by other people walking on the street. If you’re a man and you’re not into fashion, just look out for the beautiful girls.
3. You must have a friend whose birthday is close. Think of a gift you could get for him. Most of us don’t have the time to think about what to get as a gift for our friends, in order to make it a really special gift. Use the time you have now.
4. Check-out the cars. Look for the newest designs of the car brands you like the most. Think of it as a free auto show.
5. Put the music volume as high as possible and sing along. Singing, like chocolate (we’ll talk about chocolate in a short period of time) makes you very happy, especially in the morning when you’re beginning a new day.
6. What was the last book you’re read? What was it about? Did you enjoy it? Think about that also. Reading keeps the human spirit alive.
7. Call someone you haven’t chatted for a long time. They’ll be surprised. And smile while talking. The person at the other line will feel it in your voice.
8. Call the person you promised to call back and didn’t. Usually, this person is your mother, so call her as soon as possible before she gets upset with you.
9. Try to remember if you locked the door on your way out. It’s too late anyway, but think about it for the next time you leave your house.
10. Check yourself in the mirror. How do you look today? Do you feel lucky? Do you feel strong? Do you feel confident? Isn’t this a great day for you or what?
11. Take a few moments for yourself. Close your eyes and try to ignore the noise outside your car. Think of what you lack in your life and try to find eligible means to make your life complete. You deserve it.
